2024.02.24 SAT -2024.05.26 SUN
hosted byLOTTE Foundation for Arts
organized byLOTTE Museum of Art

As the first event of 2024, the LOTTE Museum of Art presents the solo exhibition of Yoon Hyup, an artist who has built a unique artistic style from diverse visual arts based on city art. Nocturne City, the exhibition title based on the night-inspired musical composition, will show a colorful and varied expression of Yoon’s artistic universe, featuring around 230 pieces of his works ranging from his early days to his most recent body of works.

Yoon conveys his visual experiences as creative rhythmic translations using dots and lines. The artist was closely exposed to subcultures as a child, getting to experience freely riding a skateboard through the city streets and enjoying the unique musical culture of hip-hop, punk, and more. His works are connotative expressions of freedom, spontaneous emotions, and rhythm that speak of such feelings of personal experiences. The show will feature Yoon’s new sixteen-meter gigantic panoramic painting created especially for the exhibition in Seoul, along with a Little Titan series developed from the Juggler character born of his painting. It will also be a chance to see his diverse brand collaborations and studio archives. Through a space filled with romantic cityscapes and lights, the artist will bring down the boundaries of contemporary art and present a fresh artistic experience of profoundly relatable themes. Flowing through the dancing lights in the dead of night, where everything seems to stand still, Yoon’s nocturne will allow audiences to experience a truly romantic city.
